Workplace Accessibility & Reasonable Adjustments Training Solution
This dynamic and empowering course aims to transform the way we approach accessibility. Participants will gain a comprehensive and practical understanding of the diverse barriers faced by individuals with visible and non-visible disabilities and explore strategies to overcome these challenges.
Through a combination of interactive discussions, case studies, and hands-on exercises, learners will discover how to create more inclusive environments, with accessibility front-of-mind. From physical spaces to technology and communication, this course will empower participants to think creatively and proactively about accessibility.

Workshop Outline...
(1) Ableist Language and Terminology: Terminology is ever evolving, and sometimes it feels like it’s hard to keep up. Participants will build confidence in using up-to-date and respectful language, while examining the historical context of common ableist terminology.
How this looks with actors:
Through hard-hitting scenarios brought to life by professional actors, participants witness first-hand the impact of mental health stigmas and prejudice. The group will witness the impact of common assumptions and misunderstandings. By engaging the hearts of the audience, the scenario emphasises the importance of challenging assumptions and non-inclusive language.
(2) The Impact of Myths and Misconceptions: Participants will discover the damaging effects of prevailing myths and misconceptions surrounding visible and non-visible disabilities. They will explore how these narratives can perpetuate harmful stereotypes and further marginalise people.
(3) Rights, Responsibilities, and Accessibility: Like anyone else, many disabled people want to work and succeed in their efforts. But a lack of accessibility can make this more difficult and create inequities for disabled members of the community. We will explore legal obligations and responsibilities to support access to work.
How this looks with actors:
Participants will observe a conversation that highlights the challenges some individuals might face day-to-day without others realising it. Taking an experiential, forum theatre approach, participants will have the chance to question our actors to uncover the context to the story. They’ll get to apply the strategies discussed during the session to guide the conversation to a positive outcome.
(4) Understanding Reasonable Adjustments: We’ll explore the lines between reasonable and unreasonable adjustments, with practical examples that translate into real-life situations. Most importantly, this part of the session focuses on ensuring participants know how to balance support for individuals with the needs of the team.
(5) Recognising and Removing Barriers: Emphasising the importance of removing barriers to accessibility, participants will learn practical strategies to create an environment that accommodates the diverse needs of all individuals.
(6) Acting on Accessibility: This final part of the session serves as a call to action. Participants will leave the session equipped with a personalised action plan to create an environment that champions inclusivity and accessibility.

What About Actors?
Through clever script writing, goosebump-inducing delivery and professional facilitation, we love to bring learning to life with actors…
We can select scripts from our library or write them specially for you, based on typical scenarios you see within in your organisation. For larger projects where budgets don’t allow for live acting, we can professionally film bespoke scenarios to create video content which can be used in the training as well as induction, toolkits, and beyond.
Using actors in workshop give delegates the opportunity to:
- Test out alternative ways of approaching what can sometimes be difficult situations, without the pressure of role playing themselves!
- Explore what is acceptable and what isn’t; intent versus impact; and both the subtle, and not so subtle, behaviours we see play out in the workplace
- Be immersed in an interactive learning experience that engages hearts and minds, and sticks in the long-term memory
