Global Inclusion and Cultural Awareness Training Solution
This half-day programme is designed to equip participants from international organisations with the knowledge and skills necessary to create an environment of inclusion and cultural competence. Learning outcomes:
- Recognise and mitigate the impact of unconscious bias on decision-making and workplace interactions.
- Understand and appreciate the complexity of global diversity, embracing a holistic view that respects individual characteristics and experiences.
- Be confident in applying inclusive language and universal principles to promote a respectful and welcoming work environment for all.
- Develop cross-cultural competencies to enhance communication and create meaningful connections in a global context.
- Implement strategies to create and sustain an inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and encourages innovation.
- Formulate actionable plans to integrate the principles of inclusion and cultural awareness into their professional roles and responsibilities.
Workshop Outline...
(1) Introduction to Inclusion and Diversity To set the tone for the day and get participants into their growth zone, we’ll start with an activity called ‘New World Rules’ designed to break the ice and establish a common understanding of inclusion and diversity.
(2) Unconscious Bias and Decision-Making Next up is a whistlestop tour of the concept of unconscious bias and its consequences on recruitment, promotion, decision making, and team interactions. Through interactive exercises exploring case studies and lived experiences, they will learn to identify and challenge their inherent biases and recognise common microaggressions.
How this looks with actors:
Participants will be immersed in a live-action scenario that vividly illustrates the subtle onset of microaggressions within multicultural teams. This experiential learning opportunity simulates a workplace environment where behaviours that may initially appear benign gradually reveal their exclusionary impact.
(3) Inclusive Workplace Culture Discussion and activities will focus on the tangible aspects of creating an inclusive workplace. Participants will consider their own definitions of inclusive culture and explore strategies to combat microaggressions and promote allyship, ensuring that diversity and inclusion are not only discussed but actively practiced.
(4) Language and Universal Principles We will examine how inclusive language and universal principles can help create an environment where all individuals feel welcome and respected. Participants will be introduced to examples of inclusive language, which address stereotypes and encourage the use of person-first language. We’ll discuss how universal principles such as fairness, respect, and empathy can help advance workplace inclusion in a global context.
(5) Cross-Cultural Understanding and Communication Participants will explore the complexities of communicating across diverse cultures and languages, taking into consideration common barriers and misunderstandings, with some examples of mistranslations by global companies, including an example from the ’80s, when fast-food giant KFC reportedly mistranslated their famous slogan in Chinese: “Finger-licking good” somehow became “Eat your fingers off”. These examples highlight the impact on inclusion when people react negatively to accidental miscommunication. We discuss strategies to create a more encouraging and supportive environment, linking back to the icebreaker exercise.
How this looks with actors:
Participants will engage in a dynamic scenario that brings to light the nuanced challenges of cultural faux pas and miscommunications. In this interactive exercise, participants navigate common linguistic and cultural misunderstandings. As these interactions unfold, seemingly innocuous remarks or actions create unintended consequences, highlighting the importance of cultural competence and language intricacies.
(6) Applying Cultural Awareness Building on the foundations of cultural understanding, we will equip participants with practical tools to embrace cultural differences and apply this knowledge to enhance workplace interactions, problem-solving, and creativity. This includes developing strategies for making meaningful connections across cultural boundaries and understanding the role of cultural awareness in creating an inclusive workplace.
(7) Action Planning for Diversity and Inclusion Participants will work collaboratively to develop concrete action plans to promote diversity and inclusion within their workplaces. They will have the opportunity to provide feedback, discuss future learning opportunities, and leave with a clear understanding of the steps needed to promote ongoing inclusion and cultural competence.

What About Actors?
Through clever script writing, goosebump-inducing delivery and professional facilitation, we love to bring learning to life with actors…
We can select scripts from our library or write them specially for you, based on typical scenarios you see within in your organisation. For larger projects where budgets don’t allow for live acting, we can professionally film bespoke scenarios to create video content which can be used in the training as well as induction, toolkits, and beyond.
Using actors in workshop give delegates the opportunity to:
- Test out alternative ways of approaching what can sometimes be difficult situations, without the pressure of role playing themselves!
- Explore what is acceptable and what isn’t; intent versus impact; and both the subtle, and not so subtle, behaviours we see play out in the workplace
- Be immersed in an interactive learning experience that engages hearts and minds, and sticks in the long-term memory
